What is Shatter?

Known for its glass-like fragility, Shatter is one of the most popular cannabis extracts on the market. However, it can range regarding consistency, which depends on the varying amounts of cannabinoids. Shatters with a high THC content have a more sappy texture but shatter with higher THC-A levels are more brittle. What is the difference between THC and THC-A you ask? In its raw form, THC-A is too big of a molecule to fit into cannabinoid receptors and hence cause no intoxicating effects. THC molecules, on the other hand, fit perfectly into these receptors and cause the effects we associate with getting high. Decarboxylation or exposure to heat and light converts THC-A to THC.
